Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra has been included in India's squad for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, subject to meeting the qualification standard. The Games are scheduled from July 23 to August 2.
Selection Subject to Qualification
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) announced the squad on Monday, with Chopra's name conditional on him achieving the entry mark. The 28-year-old javelin thrower is recovering from a minor injury but is expected to be fit in time.
Chopra's CWG History
Chopra won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast with a throw of 86.47m. He missed the 2022 Birmingham Games due to injury. A medal in Glasgow would add to his stellar career, which includes Olympic gold and world championship silver.
The Indian contingent is expected to field strong teams in athletics, wrestling, and shooting. The CWG 2026 will feature 20 sports across 10 days.
