Chhattisgarh's Nikita Makes History with Gold at Khelo India Tribal Games 2026
In a landmark achievement for Chhattisgarh, weightlifter Nikita secured the state's first-ever gold medal at the Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 on Saturday. The event, held at the Pt Ravishankar Shukla University campus in Raipur, witnessed Nikita's dominant performance in the women's 77 kg category, where she lifted a total of 160 kg to claim the top spot.
Dominant Performance in Weightlifting
Nikita showcased exceptional strength and technique, recording a lift of 70 kg in the snatch and 90 kg in the clean and jerk. Her total of 160 kg placed her significantly ahead of her competitors, highlighting her prowess in both segments of the competition.
The silver medal was awarded to Srimati Jani of Odisha, who lifted a total of 126 kg, while Joyashree Patir of Assam took the bronze with a total of 118 kg.
