Oliver Rowland's Family Vacation in Thailand Amid Formula E Hiatus
Nissan Formula E driver Oliver Rowland is currently enjoying a well-deserved vacation with his family and friends in Thailand. The professional racer recently provided his Instagram followers with glimpses of his relaxing time away from the track, sharing precious moments with his wife Lauren and their two children, Harper and Hennie.
Sun-Soaked Family Moments in Thailand
Rowland has been documenting his Thailand getaway through various Instagram posts and Stories. The driver shared a heartwarming group picture from a yacht where he and his wife posed with their children and several friends. Additional images showed his wife and daughter enjoying the tropical setting in beachwear, and earlier posts captured Harper playing with a flamingo-themed swimming tube.
The family traveled to Koh Samui in Thailand following the Madrid E-Prix, taking advantage of Formula E's current month-long break before the championship resumes with Round 7 in Berlin. This vacation comes at a significant time for Rowland, who recently completed his 100th Formula E race in Madrid.
Escaping Regional Tensions
Rowland's international travels began last month when he decided to leave his home city of Dubai after it was affected by explosions amid Middle East tensions. In an Instagram note shared around that time, Rowland expressed gratitude while explaining his family's decision to travel.
"In response to all the messages we have received, we are all fine and we are extremely grateful to the UAE for protecting us during this difficult time," Rowland wrote. "We made the decision to leave Dubai early for the desert. We didn't feel in any immediate danger, but we felt it was better to be safe than sorry in case things escalate beyond our imagination. Here's hoping for peace to be restored in this wonderful place that gives me and my family a wonderful life."
Current Formula E Performance
Despite finishing 16th in the recent Madrid E-Prix, Rowland has been enjoying a strong season overall. The British driver currently sits seventh in the Formula E Drivers' Standings with 49 points, just one point behind Porsche driver Nico Muller who recently overtook him after registering the fastest lap in Madrid.
Rowland has achieved three podium finishes in the first six races of the season:
- Second place in the season opener in Sao Paulo
- Third place in the Mexico E-Prix
- Another podium finish in Jeddah (Round 5)
This consistent performance has positioned him as a strong contender in the championship as the season progresses.
Supporting Racing Protégé
Beyond his own racing commitments, Rowland has been actively supporting his protégé Arvid Lindblad, who made his Formula 1 debut this season with Racing Bulls. Rowland watched Lindblad's debut race in Melbourne alongside his wife and children, demonstrating his commitment to mentoring the next generation of racing talent.
As Rowland continues his Thailand vacation with family and friends, Formula E fans await his return to competition when the championship resumes in Berlin next month. The break provides valuable family time for the driver who has been balancing professional success with personal priorities during a challenging period of regional tensions.
