Gorakhpur: Ramgarhtal is set to emerge as a major hub for water sports in the country as it prepares to host the Asmita National Women’s Rowing League and the 46th Junior National Rowing Championship from May 12 to 21.
Asmita National Women’s Rowing League
The Asmita National Women’s Rowing League will be held from May 12 to 16, with the official inauguration ceremony scheduled for May 13. Competitions will be organised in Under-15, Under-19 and Open categories over a distance of 1,000 metres. Winning teams in each category will receive cash prizes worth Rs 1.55 lakh.
Uttar Pradesh Rowing Association secretary Sudhir Sharma said elaborate preparations have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the events.
46th Junior National Rowing Championship
The 46th Junior National Rowing Championship will be held from May 17 to 21 and will feature teams from states and Union Territories across the country. Events for boys and girls will be conducted over a distance of 2,000 metres across five categories.
Teams are expected to arrive on May 16 and 17, while the opening ceremony of the championship will take place on May 18. The finals are scheduled for May 21.
