Satwik, Chirag lament lack of recognition for Thomas Cup bronze

HYDERABAD: Peeved by the lack of recognition for their performance in the Thomas Cup, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy vented his anger on social media on Tuesday. "Back home now. As usual, no one knows what happened over the past two weeks, and it seems like no one really cares," was Satwik's cryptic post on Instagram after the bronze medallists returned from Denmark.

Reacting to his doubles partner's post, Chirag Shetty said, "I never expected someone to come to the airport and receive us. We did get a reception last time, met the Prime Minister at his house. But apart from that, I think the way it should have been celebrated, it did not get celebrated. I feel the general public did not really know the magnitude of the result. That sometimes really makes me sad."

The Indian duo, who have been instrumental in India's recent success in badminton, expressed their disappointment over the muted response to their historic achievement. The Thomas Cup bronze is a significant milestone for Indian badminton, yet the players feel that the general public and authorities have not given it the attention it deserves.

Satwik and Chirag have been consistent performers on the international circuit, and their efforts in the Thomas Cup were commendable. However, the lack of fanfare upon their return has left them disheartened. They hope that future achievements will be met with greater recognition and celebration.
