Snow Marathon League Launched in India to Boost Adventure and Environmental Awareness

In a significant move to promote adventure sports while championing environmental and animal welfare causes, the Snow Marathon League (SMLg) has been officially launched in India. This innovative initiative, conceptualized by the team behind the World's Highest and Asia's Only Snow Marathon in Lahaul, aims to foster responsible engagement with the fragile Himalayan ecosystems.

SnowTails Fest: A Unique High-Altitude Dog Race

As part of the league's activities, the SnowTails Fest will be held in Lahaul from March 20 to 22, 2026. Described as the world's highest snow dog race, this event features dogs and their owners participating in a thrilling competition. It builds on the success of three earlier editions, highlighting the league's commitment to blending adventure with community and conservation efforts.

Expanding Participation with New Events

The Snow Marathon League will introduce the world's highest Snow Ultra and a Snow Walkathon, designed to allow a broader audience to join the initiative. According to Race Director Col. Schimer, the Snow Walkathon offers an opportunity for those not ready for the challenging high-altitude marathon to still participate and support causes like solid waste management and animal welfare in the Himalayas.
