The Indian Air Force's elite Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT), under the leadership of Group Captain Ajay Dasarathi, captivated thousands of spectators during a spectacular two-day air show held over Sainik School in Sujanpur Tira, Himachal Pradesh. The nine-aircraft formation, flying indigenously built Hawk Mk 132 jets, executed a series of precise formations and high-speed maneuvers that left the audience spellbound.

Wing Commander Syal tragically lost his life in a crash during a demonstration sortie of the indigenously developed Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas at the Dubai Air Show on November 21 last year.

The occasion held special importance for Sainik School, Sujanpur Tira, which has produced over 600 defence officers throughout its history. Among its distinguished alumni are two former members of the Surya Kiran team: Air Commodore Brijesh Paul and Squadron Leader Himkush Chandel, whose achievements added to the significance of the event.
School principal Group Captain Rachna Joshi emphasized that sustained efforts over the past year, coordinated with the defence ministry, had made this landmark event possible. She expressed confidence that witnessing such a display would motivate students to pursue careers in the armed forces and related services.

Sujanpur MLA Captain Ranjit Singh Rana (retired), who served as the chief guest for the event, used the platform to deliver an important message to the youth. He urged young people to stay away from drugs and instead draw inspiration from the discipline, dedication, and patriotism demonstrated by the armed forces.
Hamirpur deputy commissioner Gandharva Rathore expressed optimism about the event's broader impact, hoping that similar air shows would be organized across Himachal Pradesh in the future.
