A tragic road accident near Mukerian claimed the life of a 16-year-old student on Saturday morning. The incident occurred on the Jalandhar-Pathankot national highway, close to the sugar mill, around 11:31 AM.
Details of the Accident
The deceased has been identified as Divyansh, son of Surinder Singh, a resident of Chak Allah Baksh village. Divyansh was returning home from his tuition classes on his e-scooty. When he reached the service road near the petrol pump in front of the sugar mill, his scooty collided with a tempo traveller. The impact caused serious injuries to the teenager.
Upon receiving information, a State Security Force (SSF) team arrived at the scene and rushed the injured student to a private hospital in Mukerian. Due to the severity of his condition, doctors referred him to a hospital in Jalandhar. Unfortunately, Divyansh succumbed to his injuries en route.
Family in Shock
The news of Divyansh's untimely death has left his family, relatives, and neighbors devastated. His father, Surinder Singh, is currently working abroad. Family members revealed that it was the birthday of Divyansh's younger brother. Divyansh had been reluctant to attend tuition in the morning but was persuaded to go, as birthday celebrations were planned for the evening.
Police Investigation
The Mukerian police have taken both vehicles involved in the accident into custody and sent the body for post-mortem. A case has been registered against the tempo traveller driver, identified as Kabir Ahmad, a resident of Rajouri, Jammu. Further investigation is ongoing.
Another Fatal Accident in Hoshiarpur
In a separate incident in Hoshiarpur, a young man was killed and another injured in a road accident. Pradeep Singh was riding a bike with his friend Gagandeep Singh. When they reached near the Lalpur village turn, a vehicle coming from the opposite direction struck them. Pradeep Singh died on the spot, while Gagandeep Singh sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation, taking both vehicles involved into custody.
