Tiger Woods Arrested After Florida Crash, Police Report Details Unsteady Behavior
Tiger Woods was arrested on Friday following a crash in Florida, with a newly released police report providing detailed insights into the incident. According to documents obtained by The U.S. Sun, deputies at the scene described Woods as appearing very unsteady and unwell immediately after the accident. The report indicates that Woods was sweating heavily even while seated in a police vehicle with cool air conditioning.
Officers Observe Physical Signs and Medication Discovery
When Woods removed his sunglasses, officers noted his eyes looked "bloodshot and glassy" and his pupils were "extremely dilated." His movements were slow, and he seemed confused at times. Deputies conducted a search and found two white pills in his pocket marked "M367," identified in the report as hydrocodone, a prescription pain medication. When questioned about medications, Woods responded, "I take a few."
The crash occurred on Jupiter Island, Florida, where Woods was driving a Land Rover that collided with a truck pulling a trailer. The impact caused his vehicle to flip onto its side. Woods later explained to officers that he became distracted by his phone and while adjusting the radio, failing to notice traffic slowing ahead.
Field Sobriety Tests and Medical History Complications
Woods passed a breath test at the scene but refused a urine test. He was taken into custody and spent approximately eight hours in jail before being released on bail. According to the affidavit, an officer asked Woods to perform field sobriety exercises to ensure he could operate the vehicle safely, and Woods agreed. However, during the walk, officers observed him limping and stumbling to the right.
Woods informed officers about his extensive medical history, including seven back surgeries and over 20 procedures on his leg. He stated that walking and balance were difficult due to these issues, and his ankle sometimes "seizes" while walking. Due to these physical limitations, officers asked him to sit instead of continuing the physical tests.
Additional Observations and Legal Charges
During the investigation, the report noted that Woods had hiccups throughout the entire process. When directly questioned, Woods denied taking any illegal substances, stating he had only used prescription medication earlier that day. After the crash, he was taken to a hospital for medical clearance but refused treatment. Later, at the jail, he again declined to take a urine test that could check for drugs.
Woods now faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence, property damage, and refusing to submit to testing. He is expected to appear in court before April 17, 2026. The U.S. Sun reported that his representatives have not yet commented on the incident.
