Kanpur: Two security guards riding a bike were killed in Chakeri, Kanpur, after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Koyla Nagar flyover in the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred around 5 am when the victims were on their way to work.
Incident Details
Upon receiving information, police reached the accident site, informed the family members, and sent the bodies for post-mortem. The deceased were identified as Sagar Kamal (22) and Alok Kamal (23), residents of Katra Bhainson, Sachendi. They worked at an army camp near COD and commuted daily at 5 am.
Helmets Could Not Save Them
Family members informed that both were wearing helmets at the time of the accident, but the impact of the collision sent the helmets flying off. Despite the protective gear, the injuries were fatal.
Police Investigation Underway
Chakeri police station in-charge, Ajay Kumar Mishra, said that further action would be taken after a written complaint. Police said efforts were underway to identify the vehicle involved in the accident. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to trace the hit-and-run driver.

The incident has sparked outrage among local residents, who are demanding stricter traffic enforcement on the flyover. Many have pointed out that the stretch has been a hotspot for accidents due to poor lighting and speeding vehicles.
