A Childhood of Struggle and Sacrifice
Born into an underprivileged family, Ranjeeta's early life was a constant battle for survival. Her father, a street vendor plying a rehri in Gurdaspur, could barely afford two square meals a day, let alone the expensive playing kit required for judo. The family's financial woes forced her mother to take up work in a cloth shop, highlighting the harsh realities faced by many aspiring sportspersons from poor backgrounds.

Dr. Satnam Singh Nijjar, the school chairman, recalls her exceptional abilities, noting that her coaches always held a special fascination for her.
Her dedication paid off with a string of impressive performances in the National School Games and inter-university tournaments, earning her accolades and paving the way for higher achievements. She later trained at the renowned Shaheed Bhagat Singh Training Centre in Gurdaspur under coach Amarjit Shastri, honing her skills further.
Academic Pursuits and Sporting Excellence
After completing her schooling in Batala, Ranjeeta moved to Amritsar to pursue higher education. She graduated from BBK DAV Girls' College and later earned a B.P.Ed and a Diploma in Sports Coaching from the National Institute of Sports (NIS) in Patiala. This academic foundation complemented her athletic career, allowing her to excel both on and off the mat.
Competing in lower weight categories, she not only participated but consistently won, showcasing extreme grit and fire. Her perseverance and technique even impressed foreign coaches during international competitions.
International Success and Career Milestones
Ranjeeta's hard work culminated in significant international recognition. She represented India in the European Cup held in Spain and went on to win a medal at the 2025 World Police Games in Alabama, USA. These achievements solidified her status as a top women judoka in the country.
Today, Ranjeeta is well-settled in life, working as a sub-inspector with the CISF in New Delhi. Her department has also entrusted her with the additional role of an assistant coach, allowing her to mentor younger athletes. For her, judo has been more than just a sport—it has provided a gateway to employment, social status, and a better quality of life.
