Rajasthan University Gives Sports Weightage in Admissions

The University of Rajasthan has reinforced its commitment to fostering sporting excellence by extending sports-based weightage in admissions for undergraduate and postgraduate regular courses. The provision applies to 26 sports approved by the university’s Sports Board, offering student-athletes structured advantages based on their achievement levels while ensuring they meet basic eligibility criteria for their chosen program.

Categories for Sports Consideration

The university has outlined five categories for sports consideration. Under Category A, student-athletes become eligible for direct admission if they meet any of the specified achievement brackets. These include representing India in international tournaments, representing Indian universities in World University Games or tournaments, being an official member of a medal-winning Rajasthan University team, or having representation in the School Games Federation of India (SGFI).

Category B offers 7% weightage for candidates who have represented the university in All India Inter University Tournaments, secured medal positions in Zone Inter University Tournaments, achieved positions in national tournaments conducted under KVS, NVS, IPS, CBSE, Vidya Bharati, or Sainik School, or earned positions in Rajasthan state School Games Tournaments.

Category C provides 5% weightage for representation in Inter University (zone) Tournaments, participation in national tournaments under KVS, NVS, IPS, CBSE, Vidya Bharati, or Sainik School, and participation in Rajasthan School State Games Tournaments.

Category D grants 4% weightage for positions in Rajasthan School District Tournaments, including KVS Regional, NVS Regional, IPS Regional, CBSE Zonal/Cluster, and Vidya Bharati Regional (Cluster/Position), as well as positions in Inter Colleges tournament and Inter Colleges tournaments.

Finally, Category E provides 2% weightage for school-level representation in KVS Regional, NVS cluster/Regional, IPS Regional, CBSE Regional, Vidya Bharati Regional, Rajasthan District Schools Tournaments, college-level representation at Inter-Collegiate tournaments, and participation in the All India Sanskrit Inter University tournaments.
