At least 14 people sustained injuries when a private bus they were traveling in veered off the road in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Monday, according to police reports.

The incident took place near Dyoh Nala in the Durgapur area while the bus was en route from Sarkaghat to Sundernagar.

Upon receiving information about the accident, a police team promptly arrived at the location. The injured individuals were taken to the Community Health Centre in Rewalsar for medical treatment, officials confirmed.

Medical examinations of the victims are underway to prepare medico-legal case (MLC) reports, the police officials stated.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident was caused by negligent driving on the part of the bus driver, identified as Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Sarkaghat tehsil in Mandi district.

Police have registered a case against the driver under sections 125 (act endangering human life) and 281 (negligent driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Authorities have urged commuters to exercise caution on the roads and have reiterated the importance of safe driving practices to prevent such incidents in the future.
