A 73-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a train at Ghatkopar railway station in Mumbai on Monday. According to police, the deceased, identified as Balasubramanium Iyer, was a resident of Chembur.
Details of the Incident
The accident occurred at approximately 6:35 am on the Up line of platform number 2. Iyer was hit by a slow local train, resulting in severe head injuries and profuse bleeding. His right leg was severed in the impact.
Police immediately rushed him to Rajawadi Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead at 6:58 am.
Police Investigation
The Kurla Government Railway Police have registered an accidental death case. Authorities noted that Iyer was not carrying any belongings or identification documents at the time of the incident.
This tragic event highlights the dangers of railway crossings and platforms, especially during peak morning hours.
