The Railway Protection Force (RPF) arrested eight minor boys on Sunday near Salem for pelting stones at the Coimbatore-Chennai Vande Bharat Express. The minors were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and released on Sunday evening after completing legal formalities.
Incident Details
The stone-pelting incident occurred on May 28 in the Veerapandi area near Salem. Windowpanes of several coaches were shattered, causing panic among passengers. RPF personnel, assisted by local police, promptly launched an investigation and traced the boys involved.
Motive and Investigation
According to an RPF official, the arrested boys are from nearby areas and committed the act for fun. Initial police action has been taken, and further investigation is underway to determine if anyone instigated them.

Railway authorities have appealed to residents to help protect trains and warned that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in stone-pelting incidents.
