Anukul Roy replaces Harsh Dubey in India A squad for tri-series

NEW DELHI: All-rounder Anukul Roy has been added to the India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka after Harsh Dubey earned his maiden senior India call-up for the home series against Afghanistan. The announcement was made by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday, with the Jharkhand and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder drafted into the squad as Dubey moves into the senior national setup.

BCCI Confirms Squad Change

The Men's Selection Committee has added Anukul Roy to the India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka. He replaces Harsh Dubey, who has received his maiden call-up to India's Test and ODI squads for the upcoming home series against Afghanistan, the BCCI stated in an official release.

The tri-series, featuring India A, Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A, will be held in Dambulla from June 9 to June 21, 2026. This tournament provides a platform for emerging talents to showcase their skills in a competitive environment.

Anukul Roy's Recent Performances

Anukul has quietly played a valuable role for KKR in IPL 2026, featuring in 13 matches and picking up eight wickets during the franchise's playoff push. While opportunities with the bat have been limited, his unbeaten 29 against Rajasthan Royals at Eden Gardens remains his best contribution so far this season. His inclusion in the India A squad reflects his consistent performances in domestic cricket and the IPL.

Harsh Dubey's Rise Opens the Door

Dubey's elevation to the senior India side capped a remarkable rise for the left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder, who has impressed consistently in domestic cricket and India A assignments. He is one of three uncapped players selected in India's squads for the Afghanistan series, alongside left-arm spinner Manav Suthar and Punjab pacer Gurnoor Brar.

India's squad for the one-off Test against Afghanistan, scheduled in New Chandigarh from June 6 to 10, was announced earlier this week by chief selector Ajit Agarkar and BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia. Shubman Gill was named captain, while KL Rahul replaced Rishabh Pant as vice-captain.
