Bangladesh ODI Squad for Australia Series: All-Rounder Returns After 4 Years

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the 15-member ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against Australia, scheduled to begin on June 10. The squad sees the return of all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin after a gap of four years, marking a significant boost for the team. Saifuddin last played an ODI for Bangladesh in 2022 and has been recalled due to his impressive performances in domestic cricket and the Bangladesh Premier League.

Key Inclusions and Exclusions

Alongside Saifuddin, the selectors have included experienced players like Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim, and Shakib Al Hasan. Pacer Taskin Ahmed and spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz also feature in the squad. However, there are notable omissions, with left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman being rested for the series. Youngster Towhid Hridoy has also been left out due to a minor injury.

Return of Mohammad Saifuddin

Saifuddin's return is a major talking point. The 27-year-old has been in fine form, picking up 15 wickets in the recent domestic season. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball adds depth to the Bangladeshi side. BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin stated, "Saifuddin has worked hard on his fitness and bowling. We believe he can make a difference in Australian conditions."
