BCCI Honors India's Five World Cup-Winning Teams at Naman Awards

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) organized a grand celebration at the Naman Awards in New Delhi on Sunday, felicitating India's five World Cup-winning teams. This event marked a historic moment, recognizing the country's recent cricketing success across various formats and age groups.

U19 Teams Take Center Stage

The ceremony began with the U19 Women's World Cup winners, led by captain Niki Prasad, receiving thunderous applause as they took the stage. They were felicitated by former Indian players Sudha Shah and Shubhangi Kulkarni. Following them, the U19 Men's World Cup champions, captained by Ayush Mhatre, were honored by IPL Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal.

India's U19 Women's team remained unbeaten throughout the 2025 ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup, securing the title with a nine-wicket victory over South Africa in the final. In 2026, the U19 Men's team stormed to a record sixth U19 World Cup title, thrashing England by 100 runs in Harare. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi starred with a blistering 175 off 80 balls, while captain Ayush Mhatre contributed 53 runs as India posted a massive 411/9 in 50 overs.

Senior Teams Receive Acclaim

The Champions Trophy 2025 winning team, led by Suryakumar Yadav and coached by Gautam Gambhir, was felicitated by BCCI President Mithun Manhas and Hon Secretary Devajit Saikia. India's senior men's team, under Rohit Sharma's leadership, won the Champions Trophy by beating New Zealand by four wickets in Dubai. Rohit Sharma was named Player of the Match for his 76 off 83 balls, as India went unbeaten to claim their third Champions Trophy title.

In November 2025, the India Women's team, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, created history by winning their maiden ICC title. They defeated South Africa by 52 runs in the Women's World Cup final in Navi Mumbai. This team was felicitated by BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla and Joint Secretary Prabhtej Bhatia.

T20 World Cup Triumph

Earlier this month, India won the Men's T20 World Cup 2026, thrashing New Zealand by 96 runs in the final. Batting first, India posted a massive 255/5, thanks to Sanju Samson's 89 off 46 balls and Ishan Kishan's 54 off 25. In response, New Zealand were bowled out for 159 in 19 overs, with Jasprit Bumrah starring with 4/15 and Axar Patel chipping in with 3/27.
