BENGALURU: The Bengaluru city police on Friday issued an advisory urging the public to avoid bursting crackers, holding road celebrations, creating disturbances, or engaging in fights after the IPL 2026 final on May 31. The advisory was issued as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have reached the final of the TATA IPL 2026 cricket tournament. Police instructed the public to strictly follow safety guidelines and maintain peace across the city, according to news agency PTI.
Advisory Details
According to the advisory, once the final result is announced, people should not engage in any kind of celebrations in public places. Police said maintaining law and order, public peace, and safety is the responsibility of every citizen. The advisory also stated that LED walls facing roads should not be installed without prior permission from the concerned authorities. Existing LED walls have also been barred from telecasting the match.
Restrictions on Celebrations
Police further said that screens should not be installed outside malls, pubs, or other establishments in a manner that allows the public to watch the final from roads or public places. Bursting crackers and using dangerous materials is prohibited. Peace and discipline must be maintained in crowded areas, the advisory stated.
Traffic and Behavior Guidelines
The police also urged citizens to strictly follow instructions issued by traffic officials. Bike rallies, over-speeding, stunts, misuse of horns, and road blockages have been prohibited, according to the advisory. People have also been advised not to consume alcohol in public places or create disturbances, engage in fights, or behave indecently.
Social Media Warnings
The advisory warned against sharing provocative posts, hateful messages, or rumors on social media platforms. "Under the pretext of the match result, fans of other teams should not be provoked, insulted, or engaged in behavior that may lead to fights," the advisory stated.
Background
The IPL 2026 final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which has a seating capacity of more than 1,30,000 spectators. The advisory comes in the backdrop of a stampede near Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium in June 2025, in which 11 people were killed and 33 others injured during RCB victory celebrations.
This advisory aims to prevent any untoward incidents and ensure a safe environment for all residents and visitors in Bengaluru during the high-stakes final match.
