Bengaluru City Police have released a comprehensive advisory urging residents to maintain order and avoid disruptive celebrations following the IPL 2026 final on May 31. The directive warns against bursting crackers, organizing road rallies, and causing public disturbances.
Strict Compliance with Safety Norms
With Royal Challengers Bengaluru reaching the final of the TATA IPL 2026, police have emphasized that strict compliance with safety norms is mandatory once the result is announced. Public peace and law and order remain a shared responsibility, the advisory states.
Prohibited Activities
The advisory clearly prohibits bursting crackers, organizing road celebrations, creating disturbances, or engaging in fights in public spaces. It also bars bike rallies, overspeeding, stunt riding, misuse of horns, and any kind of road blockades.
Restrictions on Public Viewing
Authorities have placed restrictions on public viewing arrangements. LED screens facing roads cannot be installed without prior permission, and existing LED walls have been directed not to broadcast the match. Screens outside malls, pubs, and commercial establishments must not be positioned in a way that allows public viewing from roads or open areas.
Alcohol and Social Media Warnings
The police further cautioned against consuming alcohol in public places, engaging in unruly behavior, or provoking others through insults or confrontations during post-match reactions. Citizens have been warned against sharing provocative, hateful, or rumor-based content on social media. Officials stated that fans of any team should not be provoked under the pretext of match results.
Background of the Advisory
The advisory comes amid heightened sensitivity following the tragic stampede near Chinnaswamy Stadium in June 2025 during RCB victory celebrations, which claimed 11 lives and left several injured. The final will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which has a capacity of over 1.3 lakh spectators.
