49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk Faces Arrest Warrant for Speeding in Self-Filmed Video
Brandon Aiyuk Faces Arrest Warrant Over Speeding Video

There are bad decisions, and then there are bad decisions you post on YouTube. San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is now facing an arrest warrant after he posted a video of himself driving 104 mph past Levi's Stadium in a 40 mph zone back in December 2025. The Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office confirmed this week that a misdemeanor charge of "exhibition of speed" has been filed against him. He essentially handed prosecutors the evidence himself.

The footage was shot from inside Aiyuk's Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing as he joyrided through Santa Clara, hitting 104 mph directly outside the stadium where he plays his home games. The backlash was swift. The Santa Clara Police Department launched an investigation and forwarded the case to the DA's office in January. No hearing dates have been scheduled, and no attorney of record has entered an appearance on Aiyuk's behalf.

Off-Field Chaos and Trade Drama Collide

The speeding warrant is just the latest chapter in what has become one of the messier player-team breakups in recent NFL memory. Aiyuk signed a four-year, $120 million extension in 2024 following a lengthy holdout, only to tear his ACL and MCL against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7. The 49ers voided $27 million of his guaranteed money for 2026 after he missed summer rehab sessions he was contractually obligated to attend. GM John Lynch told reporters in January that "it's safe to say he's played his last snap as a 49er."

It gets stranger. The Niners have been trying to trade Aiyuk, but ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the team has "had a hard time getting ahold of him," making negotiations with other teams nearly impossible. A player who can't be reached by his own team, facing a warrant he seemingly hasn't responded to either, it's a pattern.

Legal Stakes and Consequences

Exhibition of speed is a misdemeanor in California that can carry fines, license suspension, and potential jail time. The legal stakes aren't enormous on their own but for a player already on the wrong side of his team, his contract, and public opinion, the timing couldn't be worse.
