Cricket Australia Unveils Action-Packed 2026-27 Home Schedule
Cricket Australia (CA) has officially announced a thrilling summer of cricket for the 2026-27 season, featuring a packed international home schedule. The calendar includes 27 matches across 14 different venues, with both men's and women's teams set to compete in a series of high-stakes encounters.
Men's Team Faces Hectic Test Run
The men's team is poised for an intense period, with 10 Test matches scheduled over 14 weeks from December 2026 to March 2027. This demanding lineup underscores Australia's commitment to hosting top-tier cricket and providing fans with non-stop action.
Tour Highlights: Bangladesh, England, and New Zealand
The schedule kicks off on August 13 with a two-match Test series against Bangladesh, marking a historic moment as matches will be held in Darwin and Mackay for the first time. This move aims to bring Test cricket to northern Australia, offering an alternative timeslot in the crowded international calendar.
From October 9 to 22, the women's Bangladesh team will tour for three ODIs and three T20Is, representing the first bilateral series between these sides on Australian soil.
England, under Brendon McCullum, will return for a series starting November 13, featuring three T20Is and five ODIs. The T20I leg begins at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on November 21, with England eager to redeem themselves after a 4-1 Ashes loss and ahead of the 2027 ODI Cricket World Cup and 2028 T20 World Cup.
New Zealand's Test Return and Women's Series
From December 9 to January 8, New Zealand will visit for a four-Test series, their first Test tour to Australia since the 2019-20 season. The series includes matches in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney, with no pink-ball Tests scheduled. Notably, the Gabba has been omitted due to concerns over its future.
Following this, New Zealand's women's team will play a limited-overs series from February 21 to March 7, comprising three T20Is and three ODIs.
Historic 150th Anniversary Test Match
The summer will culminate with a landmark Test match between Australia and England at the MCG, celebrating 150 years of Test cricket. This event is expected to draw global attention, honoring the historic rivalry and iconic players who have shaped the sport.
CA Chief Executive's Statement
Cricket Australia CEO Todd Greenberg expressed enthusiasm for the schedule, stating, "We are delighted to release an international schedule that ensures fans across Australia will see our brilliant national teams play over eight months at many fantastic venues across the country." He highlighted the competitive rivalry with New Zealand and the significance of taking Test cricket to new locations like Darwin and Mackay.
Greenberg added, "The 150th Anniversary Test Match will be a wonderful conclusion to the summer with the cricket world coming to the MCG to celebrate the game's historic rivalry and also the superstars from across the world who have made Test cricket great."
