Formula E Returns to China with Sanya E-Prix After Month-Long Break
Formula E Returns to China for Sanya E-Prix After Break

After a month-long hiatus, Formula E is back in action with three races scheduled in China. Round 11 takes place in Sanya this weekend, followed by two additional races at another circuit a week later. DS Penske's Jean-Eric Vergne and Envision Racing's Sebastien Buemi have expressed their enthusiasm ahead of the Sanya E-Prix, which kicks off with free practice on Friday before the main race on Saturday.

Drivers Share Thoughts on the Sanya E-Prix

Reflecting on Formula E's return to Sanya, Jean-Eric Vergne commented, "Sanya is a circuit I remember well. The last time Formula E raced there, it was an important moment in my season, but a lot has changed since then. The cars are different, the championship is even more competitive, and the level across the grid is incredibly high."

Elaborating on the keys to success, Vergne added, "It's a track that can create interesting races because energy management plays such a big role. As always in Formula E, the challenge is to find the right balance between pushing and being efficient. We know where we need to improve after Monaco, and the objective now is to put ourselves in a position to fight at the front again."

Envision Racing's Sebastien Buemi also shared his excitement ahead of the race. He recently finished third while racing for Toyota at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

"It's great to be returning to Sanya after seven seasons away. The hot conditions will make it a tough race, but I'm looking forward to the challenge. For us as a Chinese-owned team, it's brilliant to kick-start the Asian leg of the calendar with two events in China," Buemi said.

Formula E Returns to Sanya for Round 11

Formula E returns to the island of Sanya after last hosting the all-electric racing series in 2019. Twenty Formula E drivers from 10 teams will compete on the 2.52km street circuit in Sanya, popularly known as China's resort city. The circuit boasts a stunning coastal backdrop, with views of the area often referred to as the Oriental Hawaii.

The Sanya E-Prix will be followed by two more races in China. This year, the country is hosting three Formula E races in total.
