The minor athlete, represented legally by his father, has formally challenged what he describes as the "illegal and invalid" decision by authorities to omit him from the men's cricket team selection process. This controversy stems specifically from the School Games Federation of India (SGFI) U-17 Cricket pre-national selection camp that was conducted in Ahmedabad.
According to the petitioner's legal counsel, Pratik Jasani, the young cricketer possesses significant talent as an all-rounder who also serves as a wicketkeeper, making him particularly well-suited for team selection. Despite participating in the Ahmedabad selection camp from April 9 to 23, his candidature was reportedly rejected without undergoing any proper on-field assessment or evaluation.
Allegations of Procedural Irregularities
The petition presents serious allegations regarding the selection methodology employed during the camp. The teenager claims he was asked to leave the camp after just four days of participation, without receiving any explanation about his shortcomings or the reasons behind the selection of other candidates among the 62 participants.

The legal challenge argues that the entire procedure was arbitrary, completely non-transparent, and conducted without any legitimate on-field trials, skill assessments, or fitness evaluations at the pre-national camp level.

Further disturbing details emerged from the petition regarding the actual activities during the selection camp. Candidates were reportedly made to sit in an office environment for most of the duration, asked only a few questions verbally, and then dismissed without undergoing any substantive on-field testing or practical demonstration of their cricketing abilities.
This unconventional approach, according to the legal arguments presented, stands in stark contrast to any recognized or established selection methodology for competitive sports, particularly at the national level where rigorous assessment should be standard practice.
Legal Remedies Sought and Judicial Response
The petitioner has requested specific directions from the High Court, including:
