After posting a mammoth total of 650 for 5 declared in the first innings, India enforced the follow-on and dismissed Afghanistan for 150 in the first innings. The visitors crumbled under pressure in the second innings, with only two batsmen reaching double figures.

Indian pacers and spinners shared the wickets equally. Jasprit Bumrah picked up 4 for 12, while Ravindra Jadeja took 3 for 8. The Afghan batting lineup had no answer to the seam and swing on offer.
