Former Karnataka cricketer S L Akshay tragically passed away after suffering a heart attack while playing a cricket match in Bengaluru. He was 39 years old.

The incident occurred on Sunday, December 22, 2024, during a match at the KSCA (Karnataka State Cricket Association) ground in Alur, near Bengaluru. Akshay collapsed on the field and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Career Highlights
Akshay was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler. He played for Karnataka in domestic cricket, featuring in two first-class matches and three List A games. He also represented the KSCA President's XI and was a regular in local club cricket.
He made his first-class debut for Karnataka against Uttar Pradesh in the 2007-08 Ranji Trophy season. He also played for the South Zone team in the Deodhar Trophy.

The cricket fraternity expressed shock and grief over his sudden demise. Former Karnataka cricketers and officials offered condolences. KSCA president Raghuram Bhat said, "It is a tragic loss. He was a talented cricketer and a wonderful human being. Our thoughts are with his family."
Akshay is survived by his wife and two young children. The last rites were performed on Monday in Bengaluru.
