Karnataka Home Minister Pays Tribute to RCB Fans Lost in Tragic Stampede
In a solemn ceremony held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara paid heartfelt homage to the 11 Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans who tragically lost their lives on June 4, 2025. The event, organized by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), marked the installation of a curated memorial to honor the victims of the stampede that occurred during RCB's maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy victory parade last year.

G. Parameshwara offered a floral tribute at the newly installed memorial, expressing deep condolences to the bereaved families and paying respects to the departed souls. The programme was attended by members of the KSCA Managing Committee, senior officials, and various stakeholders, underscoring the collective grief and commitment to remembrance.
KSCA's Commitment to Safety and Governance
Under the leadership of legendary cricketer Venkatesh Prasad, the KSCA reiterated its dedication to responsible governance and enhanced safety standards. The association emphasized its focus on developing world-class cricketing infrastructure while remaining sensitive to the sentiments of fans and the broader cricketing community. In a strong reaffirmation, KSCA resolved to ensure that all future events at the stadium are conducted with the highest levels of safety, coordination, and professionalism, aligning with public and stakeholder expectations.
Special Prayers and Symbolic Gestures
Venkatesh Prasad revealed that a special prayer was conducted by the KSCA to pay tribute to the lives lost and to show support for their families. In a poignant gesture, he announced that 11 seats will be kept permanently vacant during IPL or international matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as a mark of respect. "A special prayer was held to pay homage to the lives that we lost at the KSCA and to tell their families that we care for them. We are going to keep 11 seats vacant, we will not sell them be it the IPL or international matches," Prasad stated while speaking to ANI.
This initiative serves as a lasting tribute to the fans whose passion for cricket ended in tragedy, ensuring their memory is honored in the very arena where their team celebrated its historic win.
