Coach Andrew McDonald has suggested a potential "hybrid" batting approach, where the order could be adjusted based on the match situation and conditions.

With Khawaja unavailable and no specialist opener added to the squad, selectors face a direct choice between two contenders: Josh Inglis and Beau Webster. On the other hand, Beau Webster offers the valuable skill of additional seam bowling. Despite a promising start to his Test career last summer against India, where he averaged 34.63 with the bat and 23.25 with the ball, he was unlucky to be omitted for the Perth Test. His all-round capabilities present a different tactical option for the team management.
