Mbappe Future Uncertain: Chelsea Could Make Sensational Move

Kylian Mbappe's tenure at Real Madrid has taken an unexpected turn, despite his impressive goal-scoring statistics. The France captain has netted 41 goals in 43 matches this season, yet team success has eluded him. Real Madrid have once again fallen behind Barcelona in the LaLiga title race, and the club also missed out on the Champions League trophy. This disappointing run has reignited debate about Mbappe's future in Spain.

Expert Predicts Chelsea Move

European football expert Andy Brassell believes Chelsea could make a sensational move for the 2018 World Cup winner. Speaking on the Trans Europe Express podcast, Brassell suggested that Mbappe may still have unfinished business linked to Xabi Alonso, who has been heavily connected with Real Madrid's future coaching plans. Brassell also highlighted Mbappe's difficult relationship with parts of the Madrid setup, including reported tension with members of Alvaro Arbeloa's staff.

Mbappe and Alonso Connection

Mbappe's relationship with Xabi Alonso has become a major talking point behind the transfer rumors. According to Brassell, the French star has openly spoken positively about Alonso in the past and felt a strong connection with him as a coach. Brassell explained: "Mbappe actually liked Xabi Alonso, and he has talked about that publicly quite a lot. He is someone who really felt the click with him as the coach."

Brassell dismissed the idea that Alonso's presence would stop Mbappe from joining Chelsea. He said: "If you are asking, do I think that Alonso being at Chelsea would be an impediment to Mbappe going there, quite the contrary. I think that there is a sense of something a little bit unfinished there that could maybe still yield something."

Historical Chelsea Link

The Chelsea connection is intriguing because Mbappe nearly joined the club as a child. Former Chelsea scout Daniel Boga spotted him while he was playing in Bondy. Mbappe even played in a friendly match against Charlton and received a personalized Chelsea shirt before talks eventually collapsed.

Brassell believes Chelsea still need major additions to return to the top of English and European football. Along with Mbappe, he named Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel and Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni as ideal signings for the club.

For now, Mbappe remains a Real Madrid player. But with pressure mounting in Spain and Chelsea looking to strengthen their squad, the transfer speculation is only intensifying.
