Mohsin Khan Credits Late Mother for IPL Comeback After Injury

Mohsin Khan's Emotional Journey Back to IPL Cricket

Lucknow Super Giants left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan has made a remarkable return to the Indian Premier League after an extensive 14-15 month rehabilitation period following a serious injury. In an emotional revelation, the cricketer attributed his comeback to the unwavering inspiration of his mother, who passed away just two months ago.

Overcoming Self-Doubt Through Maternal Support

The prolonged injury layoff plunged Mohsin into significant self-doubt, but his mother consistently encouraged him throughout the challenging recovery process. "When I was unavailable for competitive cricket, and after surgery during rehabilitation, negative thoughts frequently invaded my mind," Mohsin confessed. "I questioned whether I would ever play again because I was sidelined for 14-15 months. However, my mother always supported me and reassured me that I would return to the field."

A Mother's Unfulfilled Dream

The cricketer shared that his mother's ultimate aspiration was to witness him play IPL and competitive cricket once more. Tragically, she passed away on the very day Mohsin returned from the LSG camp in Bengaluru. "My mother's dream was to see me play IPL and competitive cricket again. I was in the LSG camp and had returned from Bengaluru, and she passed away the same day," Mohsin revealed with evident emotion.

Mohsin described being exceptionally close to his mother, frequently communicating with her through phone calls. Her sudden death left him traumatized, leading to a month-long break from practice as he processed the profound loss.

Unexpected Retention and Recovery Support

Despite his injury struggles, Lucknow Super Giants retained Mohsin Khan, a decision that surprised the pacer himself. He expressed deep gratitude toward the LSG support staff, specifically crediting physio Vaibhav Daga, trainer Soham, and bowling coach Bharat Arun for their instrumental roles in helping him regain both fitness and bowling rhythm.

Additionally, Mohsin undertook specialized practice sessions with renowned Indian pacer Mohammed Shami at Shami's farm in Amroha. "He has established an excellent gym and ground at his farm. We discussed bowling nuances extensively, and he pointed out any shortcomings in my technique," Mohsin explained about the valuable training experience.

The Psychological Battle of Rehabilitation

The journey back to professional cricket involved not just physical rehabilitation but a substantial psychological battle. Mohsin's testimony highlights how athlete recovery often depends on strong emotional support systems alongside medical and technical assistance. His story underscores the human element behind sports comebacks, where personal relationships and mental resilience prove as crucial as physical training.

As Mohsin Khan continues his IPL campaign with Lucknow Super Giants, he carries forward both the technical improvements from his rehabilitation and the emotional motivation from his mother's enduring belief in his abilities.
