A tragic road accident occurred in Balaghat district on Tuesday, claiming the life of a 56-year-old man from Nagpur. The victim was identified as Michael Antune Morris, a resident of Kaushalya Nagar in Nagpur.

Accident Details

According to police, the incident took place between 4 am and 5 am on the Balaghat-Mandla road near Kharra village. The victim was returning to Nagpur after dropping a patient in Santaritola village near Parsawada when the mishap occurred.

Cause of the Accident

Preliminary investigation suggests that the vehicle was being driven at high speed. The driver may have lost control or dozed off at the wheel, causing the car to overturn. Officials stated that the car skidded for a considerable distance before crashing into a tree and bursting into flames.

Passers-by noticed the burning vehicle and alerted the police. However, by the time help arrived, the driver was trapped inside and was burnt alive.

Investigation and Identification

During the investigation, police identified the deceased through a mobile phone number found at the scene. The victim’s family has been informed, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
