Nagpur Police Arrest 3 in Vehicle Theft Racket

The Crime Branch Unit-1 of Nagpur Police has successfully cracked a series of vehicle theft cases in the city, arresting three individuals and recovering stolen vehicles valued at Rs 13.55 lakh. The haul includes 14 two-wheelers and two mobile phones. This operation led to the detection of 11 vehicle theft cases that were reported across various police stations in the city and rural areas.

Investigation Initiated After Scooter Theft

The investigation began after a scooter belonging to Gaurav Mriguwar was stolen from outside Priyadarshini College in the Bajaj Nagar area. Acting on technical inputs, the police tracked down and detained Piyush Jagnade from Lakhani. During interrogation, he confessed to committing the thefts along with his accomplices Anshul Sahjare and Deep Ramteke.

Recovery of Stolen Vehicles

Further investigation revealed their involvement in multiple theft cases registered at various police stations, including MIDC, Pratap Nagar, Sonegaon, Hudkeshwar, Khaparkheda, Butibori, and Bori. The police have seized several two-wheelers, including Activa, Pulsar, and Bullet motorcycles. The total value of the recovered vehicles is estimated at Rs 13.55 lakh.

Ongoing Investigation

The police are conducting further investigations to uncover any additional involvement of the accused in other theft cases. The arrested individuals are currently in custody, and the police are working to trace any other stolen items that may have been sold or hidden.
