Naidu offers silk robes at Kuppam temple, attends Viswaroopa Darshanam

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, accompanied by his wife Nara Bhuvaneswari, offered sacred pattu vastram (silk robes) on behalf of the state government to Goddess Sri Prasanna Tirupati Gangamamba at the historic temple in Kuppam. This marked the culmination of the annual jatara (festival). The offering was made during the highly revered Vishwaroopa Darshanam, an auspicious ritual held only once a year.

Ceremonial Details

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) additional executive officer Ch Venkaiah Chowdary, along with temple officials and priests, participated in the ceremony. The gesture highlights the cultural and spiritual significance of the Kuppam Jatara, a major regional festival in Chittoor district with origins tracing back to the early 18th century.

According to local belief, Goddess Gangamamba is regarded as the sister of Lord Venkateswara. The week-long celebrations concluded with a 24-hour procession of the deity’s head from Pedda Bavi at Pathapeta, culminating in its ceremonial reattachment inside the sanctum, followed by the Viswaroopa Darshanam.

CM's Prayers and Refreshment

The Chief Minister later offered special prayers for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of the state. The event drew several officials, public representatives, and devotees.

After his visit to the shrine, Naidu took a refreshment break at Thanjamma Kottala to beat the summer heat with ice apples. As the vendors got into their job, the CM briefly enquired about their families, their work, and occupational hazards. After a quick bite into the ice apples, Naidu posted on his X handle: “No adulteration, no chemical carbides, and absolutely no pesticide worries. Eating these pure, refreshing ice apples by the roadside—which are just as clean and pure as the hearts of our Kuppam people—feels incredibly wonderful. There is truly nothing that can match the greatness of our rural food products.”
