Mumbai cricketer Sayali Satghare has emerged as a standout performer in women's cricket, attributing her recent successes to more than ten years of unwavering hard work. Her journey includes a pivotal role in Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Women's Premier League title victory and a memorable Test debut for India against Australia.

From WPL Glory to Test Cricket Debut

Earlier this year, Sayali Satghare played a crucial part in RCB's triumphant WPL campaign, taking nine wickets as the franchise secured its second championship. This achievement was swiftly followed by her Test debut in a day-night match against Australia at the historic WACA Ground in Perth. Despite India's 10-wicket loss, Sayali claimed four wickets, marking a promising start to her international red-ball career.

"The performances in the last 2-3 months are not just about those months, but they have 10 years of hard work behind them," Sayali emphasized in an exclusive interview with PTI. She highlighted the importance of perseverance, stating, "I believe that you should keep working hard and whenever you get an opportunity, you should grab it. Until you don't get it, you should keep working hard and wait for it. And when you do get it, you should give your 100 per cent."

Embracing Team Culture and Future Prospects

Reflecting on her experience with RCB, Sayali praised the team's supportive environment. "It was a good experience. It was my first time with RCB and we won the trophy. I'm glad that I was able to contribute," she said. She described the RCB culture as familial, where players stood by each other through highs and lows, fostering a collaborative spirit that she believes will benefit her future endeavors.

Regarding her Test debut, Sayali expressed surprise at her performance, noting, "Honestly, I didn't expect that I would get so many wickets. I just wanted to get that opportunity and I was hoping to play the match and contribute to the team in whatever way I can." She credited thorough preparation, especially adapting to the different conditions in Australia, for her success with the pink ball.

Promoting Women's Cricket Through T20 Mumbai League

Sayali also shared her excitement about the inaugural women's T20 Mumbai League, viewing it as a significant platform for emerging talent. "It's a huge opportunity for all the girls. It's a huge platform to show their skills and perform on a big stage. This experience will help them a lot," she remarked. She emphasized the competitive nature of Mumbai cricket, suggesting that the league will uncover hidden talents and provide valuable exposure to aspiring cricketers.
