Sherrone Moore Breaks Down in Emotional Police Footage, Blames Assistant for Life Ruin

Former University of Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore was captured in highly emotional police body camera footage, breaking down in tears and blaming his assistant, Paige Shiver, for his firing, arrest, and personal devastation. The video, obtained and published by the Daily Mail, shows Moore speaking from a hospital where he was taken for a mental health evaluation following his arrest on December 10.

Moore's Emotional Outburst and Claims of Wrongdoing

In the distressing footage, Moore is seen crying uncontrollably while telling officers that Shiver "ruined" his life. He vehemently asserted his innocence, stating, "I have to spend a night in jail because she lied. I never did anything to her. She straight up lied. She ruined my life." Police officers attempted to console him, with one even admitting he understood Moore's pain and struggled not to cry while listening. However, their primary concern remained Moore's safety after he mentioned intentions of self-harm.

Moore admitted to going to an apartment linked to Shiver and possessing scissors and butter knives, but he explicitly told officers he never used them on her. "I did not hold anything to her, touch her, and that's when I drove on. I was gonna harm myself," he explained. During the conversation, an officer reminded Moore about his daughters, urging him to stay strong for them. Moore acknowledged this but continued to insist he was being falsely accused.

Background of the Relationship and Legal Proceedings

Moore detailed his past relationship with Paige Shiver, which he said lasted approximately two years and ended just days before the incident. According to Moore, he wanted to terminate the relationship and remove Shiver from her role, but he claimed she threatened legal action if he proceeded.

Court records reviewed by the Daily Mail indicate that Moore sent numerous texts and calls to Shiver after the breakup. One particularly alarming message read, "I hate you. My blood is on your hands." Following these events, Moore was charged but later reached a plea deal. He pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges, including trespassing and misuse of a telecommunications device. More serious charges, such as home invasion and stalking, were dropped by prosecutors.

University Investigation and Aftermath

Moore was fired on December 10 after the University of Michigan learned about his relationship with a staff member. In the police footage, Moore referenced a meeting with Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel, who terminated him earlier that day. Moore mentioned there were other claims being investigated but denied their validity, stating those "never happened."

According to a department spokesperson quoted by the Daily Mail, Shiver's contract with the Michigan football program has since ended. The situation highlights the severe personal and professional consequences stemming from the breakdown of their relationship and the subsequent legal and institutional actions.
