Smriti Mandhana's Father Discharged, Wedding with Palash Muchhal Postponed
Smriti Mandhana's father discharged, wedding postponed

The highly anticipated wedding of Indian cricket vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal has been indefinitely postponed, creating a wave of concern and speculation among fans. The decision was made following a sudden health scare involving the bride's father, Shrinivas Mandhana, just hours before the ceremony was set to take place.

Health Scare Leads to Wedding Postponement

The wedding, scheduled for Sunday, November 26, 2025, in Sangli, was abruptly put on hold. The crisis began when Shrinivas Mandhana's health deteriorated suddenly while he was having breakfast on the morning of the wedding. According to Smriti's manager, Tuhin Mishra, the family initially hoped his condition would stabilize. However, when it worsened, an ambulance was called, and he was rushed to a hospital in his hometown of Sangli for immediate observation.

Medical professionals performed an angiography on Shrinivas after he displayed symptoms indicative of a heart attack. Fortunately, the procedure revealed no blockages. After being monitored and declared stable, Shrinivas Mandhana was discharged from the hospital and is now reported to be out of danger. Despite this positive development, the cloud of uncertainty over the wedding remains.

A United Family Decision

The choice to postpone the wedding was a unified and emotional one. Tuhin Mishra clarified that Smriti, who shares an exceptionally close bond with her father, was adamant about not proceeding with the marriage until he had fully recovered. "Smriti is clear, she wants to see her father well and then get married," Mishra stated.

In a touching display of his own bond with the Mandhana family, Palash Muchhal was reportedly the first to suggest the postponement. His mother, Amrita Muchhal, revealed, "Palash is extremely attached to Smriti's father. When he fell ill, it was Palash, before Smriti, who decided that they should not go ahead with the wedding rituals until he gets better." The stress of the situation also took a toll on Palash, who was later hospitalized in Mumbai for a viral infection and stress-related health issues.

Social Media Speculation and Deleted Videos

The postponement has triggered intense speculation on social media, fueled further by the removal of pre-wedding content from digital platforms. Smriti Mandhana deleted posts related to her engagement and pre-wedding festivities from her official Instagram handle.

In a show of solidarity, her teammates from the Indian women's cricket team also removed a viral video they had created to announce the engagement. The clip, which featured Smriti dancing with players like Jemimah Rodrigues to the song "Samjho Ho Hi Gaya" from the film Lage Raho Munnabhai, had garnered over a million likes. It is no longer visible on the social media accounts of the players involved.

Attempting to quell the rumours, Palash's sister, playback singer Palak Muchhal, issued a statement. She confirmed that the wedding was postponed "solely due to bride-to-be's father's health" and requested privacy for both families during this sensitive time. Neither Smriti nor Palash has made a personal public statement regarding the new wedding date, which remains unconfirmed.
