Sophie Cunningham and Caitlin Clark continue to give Indiana Fever fans plenty to talk about, and this time it had nothing to do with game highlights or postgame drama. Ahead of another busy stretch in the WNBA season, the Fever shared a lighthearted practice-court moment featuring the two guards enjoying themselves during training.
A Simple Post Sparks Reactions
The team captioned the post with just one word: “sup.” Still, the reactions poured in almost immediately as fans once again saw the chemistry that has quickly become part of Indiana’s identity. The image captured the playful side of the Fever chemistry. Cunningham leaned dramatically to one side while flashing double victory signs, her ponytail swinging across the frame. Clark matched the energy beside her, smiling toward the camera while throwing up her own peace sign in a candid pose.
Growing Friendship Behind the Scenes
The friendship between Cunningham and Clark has steadily become one of the most talked-about dynamics around the Fever. Their connection started with competitive energy on the floor, but it has expanded into constant banter, social media jokes, and visible support behind the scenes. The recent photo, originally shared by the Indiana Fever’s official handle, gives the fans a peek into the duo’s continued friendship. In another story on her Instagram, Cunningham also shared a photo of Raven Johnson. The image, however, only shared the celebration hands of the players.
Cunningham earned major respect from Fever fans last season after defending Clark during a heated game against the Connecticut Sun. Since then, many around the league have viewed her as Clark’s unofficial protector. Off the court, though, the relationship looks far less serious.
Cunningham on Fever’s Potential
Indiana opened the season with losses to Dallas and Washington before recovering with three straight wins. Even during the rough stretch, Cunningham insisted the group should not panic.
“I think right now, the positive is we're not going to peak too soon. We have a lot to work on,” Cunningham said on her “Show Me Something” podcast.
The veteran guard believes the Fever’s ceiling remains much higher than what they have shown early in the season. Indiana brought back much of last year’s core while adding several new contributors, including Monique Billings, Ty Harris, Myisha Hines-Allen, Raven Johnson, and Grace VanSlooten.
As Cunningham explained, it “takes time to figure out” how everyone fits together.
“I think we just have so much potential. ... I think that once we really catch that rhythm and that chemistry, I think we're going to be freaking elite,” she added.
