Fresh chaos unfolded at Kempegowda International Airport on Thursday after SpiceJet flight SG768 from Bengaluru to Kolkata was delayed for several hours due to a technical snag. This incident adds to a growing list of complaints against the airline over repeated disruptions and apathy towards passengers.
Passengers Left Stranded Without Updates
Passengers on SG768 said they were left waiting for hours without clear updates. The flight remained grounded past 10pm despite being scheduled for an afternoon departure. Anupam Mitra, a passenger, stated, "The flight was to leave around 2pm, and they said there would be a delay of a few minutes, then it turned into hours, and at 10pm we are still waiting for it. We have not been given any sort of refund or assistance."
Airport officials eventually cited "aircraft under maintenance," but travellers alleged there was little staff at the boarding gate and no timely communication, even though tickets had cost over Rs 10,000.
Recent Spate of Complaints
The incident comes amid a spate of similar grievances in recent days. On April 22, a passenger alleged that flight SG269 was delayed by 26 hours, further claiming he was forced to pay Rs 5,250 at Bengaluru airport under what he described as a non-existent policy. In another instance the same day, passengers reported a four-hour delay that disrupted onward travel plans, triggering angry scenes at the airport.
These recurring issues highlight growing frustration among travelers with SpiceJet's operational reliability and customer service. Passengers are demanding better compensation and transparent communication during disruptions.
