Bhopal: Five people, including a couple and their eight-year-old son, were killed after a speeding SUV overturned multiple times on the roadside in Madhya Pradesh’s Narmadapuram district on Monday evening. Two others sustained injuries in the incident.
Accident Details
The accident occurred on the Matkuli-Pipariya road when the vehicle was traveling from Tamia to Hoshangabad. According to police, the SUV lost control and overturned while trying to avoid a motorcyclist coming from the opposite direction. Due to the impact, the vehicle overturned several times before landing by the roadside.
Victims Identified
Police identified the deceased as Pradeep Dhurve (48), his wife Jyoti Dhurve, and their son Akshat Dhurve (8), residents of Banjara Dream in Narmadapuram. The other victims were Pancham Thakur (55) of Samnapur and Kuldeep Thakur (40) of Jhirpa Karer.
The injured, Akash Dhurve (25) and Sharad Uike (21), both residents of Samnapur, were admitted to a nearby hospital. Their condition is reported to be serious.
Police Investigation
Pipariya police stated that a preliminary inquiry suggested the driver lost control while attempting to avoid the biker. Police are probing the exact cause of the crash. The group had traveled to Tamia in an SUV and met with the accident near Matkuli while trying to overtake another vehicle, they said.
