Sullia's Teen Cricket Commentator Jaswith Kannadka Wows Social Media
Fourteen-year-old Jaswith Kannadka from Guthigaru village in Sullia taluk has captured widespread attention on social media. His confident and captivating cricket commentary is making waves across platforms.
A Rising Star in Local Cricket
Jaswith is a Class 9 student at Kumaraswamy Vidyalaya in Subrahmanya. He has become a familiar voice at underarm and overarm cricket tournaments throughout Sullia taluk and other parts of Dakshina Kannada district. His popularity surged dramatically after a video of his live commentary went viral online.
The video shows Jaswith delivering commentary fluently in both English and Kannada during a local cricket match. His performance impressed viewers and organisers alike. Since then, several cricket organisers have felicitated the young commentator.
Dreams of Professional Commentary
Jaswith dreams of becoming a professional cricket commentator. He told TOI about his journey. "I now receive calls from many tournament organisers requesting live commentary," he said. "I started during the Valalambe Premier League in our village last year."
Initially, Jaswith even did commentary without a microphone. That's when organisers first noticed his talent. "As I got more opportunities across the district, my fluency improved," he explained.
Passion and Preparation
An avid cricket enthusiast, Jaswith rarely misses IPL matches or international games. He credits his English-medium schooling for helping improve his pronunciation and language skills. This bilingual ability sets him apart in local cricket circles.
His father, Chidananda KE, works as an assistant engineer with Mescom. He shared insights about his son's activities. Jaswith often travels to remote parts of the district to offer commentary services voluntarily.
Organisers usually cover his expenses and provide suitable remuneration. "He is not just a commentator but also an all-rounder in cricket," his father noted proudly.
Balancing Talent and Education
Jaswith recently attended the selection camp for the Dakshina Kannada under-14 cricket team. Results are still awaited. Organisers from other districts also extend invitations for his commentary services.
However, frequent travel presents challenges due to academic commitments. His father emphasized their current priorities. "For now, we are prioritizing his education," he stated clearly. "After his SSLC, we will decide on his future."
The family remains supportive while ensuring academic responsibilities receive proper attention. Jaswith continues to develop his commentary skills alongside his studies.
