A tragic road accident on National Highway 34 near Painethi village under the Akrabad police station in Aligarh district claimed three lives and left three others injured early Tuesday morning. The collision involved a truck transporting paper rolls and a sand-laden truck, which were both moving in the same direction.
Details of the Incident
The accident occurred when the driver of the paper roll truck, identified as Shivpal Singh, 45, reportedly dozed off at the wheel. The vehicle crashed into the sand-loaded truck from behind, causing severe damage. Local residents quickly alerted the police and ambulance services, who arrived at the scene and transported the victims to a government hospital.
Two individuals were declared brought dead upon arrival, while a third succumbed to injuries during treatment. The deceased include Virendra, 35, the brother of the driver, and his son Nitesh, 20, who died on the spot. The third fatality was Suryanshi, a three-year-old granddaughter, who passed away while receiving medical care.
Injured Victims
The injured individuals are the driver Shivpal Singh, his daughter Vijay Nandani, 25, and his four-year-old son Suryaansh. All three are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital, and their condition is reported to be stable.
Police Response and Investigation
Deputy Superintendent of Police Garvit Singh confirmed that the bodies have been sent for postmortem examination, and the families of the deceased have been informed. A formal case will be registered once a police complaint is filed. An officer at the Akrabad police station stated that the accident caused a brief disruption in traffic on NH-34, which was later restored to normal.
The truck was traveling from Kannauj to Yamunanagar in Haryana when the mishap took place. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident, with preliminary findings pointing to driver fatigue as a contributing factor.
