Ghaziabad: Two people were killed and three others sustained injuries when their car collided with a divider on National Highway 58 in the early hours of Thursday. The vehicle was carrying six individuals returning to Meerut after a day trip to Delhi.

Accident Details

According to ACP (Modinagar) Bhaskar Verma, a commuter alerted the emergency helpline 112 at approximately 5:40 am about the crash. Verma stated, "We received information that the car suddenly went out of control, first hitting a divider and then crashing into an RRTS pillar in front of the State Employees Insurance Commission office in Modinagar. The car overturned twice before landing on the road. Of the six occupants, five were trapped inside. One person managed to escape without any injuries."

Victims and Injuries

The vehicle was extensively damaged, and all trapped men suffered severe injuries. Police rushed them to a nearby hospital, where Ankit Kumar, a resident of Loni, and Aadesh, from Kunda in Meerut, were declared dead. Kumar was driving at the time of the accident. The injured—Kuldeep, Adesh Pal, and Himanshu—remain hospitalized, while Rohit, who was unharmed, returned to Meerut to inform the families of his friends. Possible Cause and Investigation

Authorities suspect the driver may have dozed off while speeding, causing him to lose control. "The damaged vehicle was removed from the road and placed on the roadside. We are reviewing CCTV footage from the area, and an investigation is ongoing," the ACP added. No complaint has been filed yet, and the bodies have been sent for autopsy, with results pending. Eyewitnesses reported that the car was traveling at a very high speed.
