Two Killed in Wedding Party Truck Overturn in Jharkhand

Jamshedpur: Two people, including a 12-year-old boy, were killed and six others injured after a pick-up truck carrying a marriage party overturned in West Singhbhum district in the early hours of Monday. The accident took place at Udhan village under Manoharpur police station limits, police said.

Details of the Accident

According to police, the driver lost control of the speeding vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn, causing the truck to overturn. In the crash, Rohan Gope (12) and Dashrath Sardar (25) died on the spot. Six injured passengers, aged between 16 and 48, were rushed to the Manoharpur Community Health Centre for treatment, said Jaydeep Lakra, SDPO of Manoharpur range.

Victims and Aftermath

Police said all the victims are residents of Barang village under Manoharpur police station. The group was returning home after attending a wedding in Anandpur block when the accident occurred. A preliminary investigation has pointed to overspeeding as the likely cause of the accident. Police are continuing their inquiry into the incident.
