Two Killed, Nine Injured in Bus-Truck Crash on Ayodhya Highway

Lucknow: Two passengers lost their lives and nine others sustained injuries after an Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus collided with a stationary trailer truck on the Lucknow-Gorakhpur highway in Ayodhya on Wednesday.

Details of the Accident

According to police officials, the bus, which originated from the Rapti Nagar Depot, was en route from Lucknow to Gorakhpur when the incident occurred near the Zuberganj market area. Preliminary investigations indicate that the bus was traveling at an excessive speed at the time of the crash. The impact caused several passengers to be thrown from their seats, resulting in various injuries.

Rescue and Medical Response

Local police and nearby residents promptly initiated rescue operations. Many passengers were trapped inside the mangled wreckage of the bus and had to be extricated before being transported to nearby hospitals for medical attention.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives. He directed officials to ensure that the injured receive proper medical treatment and instructed them to contact the families of the deceased to provide all possible assistance.

Identification of Victims

Police confirmed that two passengers died at the scene. The deceased were identified as Sabir, aged 54, a resident of Kushinagar, and Suresh Kumar, aged 43, from Lucknow.

Among the injured, eight individuals were discharged after receiving first aid, while one critically injured passenger remains hospitalized. Authorities have sent the bodies of the deceased for post-mortem examination and have launched a search for the driver of the trailer truck, who fled the scene.

Station House Officer (SHO) Lalchand Saroj stated that no formal complaint has been filed yet, and further legal proceedings will be initiated upon receipt of a complaint.
