The May 1 episode of WWE SmackDown took place at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The show marked the debut of a former top NXT star on the blue brand, featured Cody Rhodes being blindsided by an unexpected new challenger, and included several exciting matches, among them two championship bouts.
Opening Segment of WWE SmackDown
Cody Rhodes kicked off this week's SmackDown. However, his address was interrupted by the brand's newest superstar, Ricky Saints. Saints brought up their shared history and declared that he intended to transform the entire landscape of the brand and relieve Rhodes of his duties as the Undisputed WWE Champion.
Charlotte Flair vs. Jacy Jayne
Charlotte Flair, accompanied by Alexa Bliss, faced Jacy Jayne, who had Fatal Influence in her corner. Much like the previous week, Jacy put up a strong fight against a seasoned veteran like Flair. After a series of distractions, Jacy landed a rolling elbow on Flair to secure the victory. Fatal Influence then began assaulting Flair and Bliss until Rhea Ripley made the save.
R-Truth & Damian Priest vs. Nathan Frazer & Axiom
Damian Priest and R-Truth defended their WWE Tag Team Championships against Fraxiom. The match was an exciting tag team contest that concluded with Priest delivering a South of Heaven to Frazer followed by a Razor's Edge to Axiom to retain the titles.
Cody Rhodes vs. Ricky Saints
This was a non-title match and marked Ricky Saints' debut on SmackDown after being called up from NXT. Saints put on a stellar performance against the brand's top star, Cody Rhodes. In the closing moments, Saints attempted a Roshambo, but Rhodes escaped and hit a Cross Rhodes to win the match. However, after the bout, Gunther attacked Rhodes, hinting at a future challenge for the WWE title.
Royce Keys vs. Angel
This was a squash match in which Royce Keys dominated Angel and finished him off with a spinbuster to secure the win.
Paige & Brie Bella vs. Nia Jax & Lash Legend
Paige and Brie Bella defended their WWE Women's Tag Team Championships against Nia Jax and Lash Legend. The captivating contest ended when Nia Jax attempted the Annihilator on Brie Bella from the top rope. However, the referee was distracted, and Paige kicked Jax, causing her to trip. Brie rolled her up, and the duo managed to retain their titles.
Jimmy and Jey Uso vs. Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga
This was the main event of the night. It was a highly enthralling bout between both sides. As the final moments approached, Jacob Fatu interfered and attacked Talla Tonga. He took down both Tonga and Solo Sikoa, then had a stare-off with The Usos before walking past them in the ring and exiting through the ramp to end the show.
