  • A compensation package similar to the one provided in Tandwa

After prolonged negotiations, the officials assured the agitators that compensation would be fast-tracked as per government norms. This assurance led to the end of the blockade on Wednesday afternoon.

“The agitation ended on Wednesday afternoon after we assured to fast track compensation as per govt norms,” said Rai.

Background of the Incident

The accident highlights the recurring issue of reckless driving by coal-laden vehicles in the region. Locals have often complained about speeding trucks and lack of enforcement of traffic rules. The death of Pradeep Bakhla has once again brought attention to the need for better road safety measures and stricter penalties for violators.

The family of the deceased is still in shock and awaiting the promised compensation. Meanwhile, police have registered a case and are investigating the accident. The driver of the coal vehicle is yet to be apprehended.
