A tragic incident occurred in Adimali, Idukki, on Friday evening, where a 24-year-old man lost his life after suffering a severe electric shock while engaged in clearing vegetation that was in contact with an electric line.
Victim Identified
The deceased has been identified as Ramesh, son of Rajappan and Ani, residents of Padikkappu Unnathi. He was 24 years old and was employed by the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) for the vegetation-clearing task.
Details of the Accident
The accident took place near Irumbupalam in Adimali during the evening hours. While other workers were cutting the vegetation, Ramesh attempted to remove a fuse to disconnect the power supply. Initially, he tried to remove the fuse with one hand, but when it did not come off, he used both hands. During this attempt, one of his hands accidentally came into contact with the fuse assembly, resulting in a fatal electric shock.
KSEB officials who were present at the site immediately rushed him to the Adimali Taluk Hospital. However, despite their efforts, his life could not be saved. The body has been kept at the Adimali Taluk Hospital mortuary for further procedures.
This unfortunate event highlights the risks associated with working near live electrical lines and the importance of safety measures during such operations.
