BMW F 450 GS Launched in India at Rs 4.70 Lakh

BMW Motorrad has officially launched the highly anticipated BMW F 450 GS in India, marking a significant addition to its adventure motorcycle lineup. The new model replaces the outgoing BMW G 310 GS and positions itself as the most accessible GS offering in the country, catering to both entry-level and experienced riders seeking a capable mid-capacity adventure bike.

Pricing and Variants

The BMW F 450 GS is priced starting from Rs 4.70 lakh (ex-showroom), with deliveries expected to commence shortly. The motorcycle is offered in three distinct variants: the base version at Rs 4.70 lakh, the Exclusive trim at Rs 4.90 lakh, and the top-spec GS Trophy variant at Rs 5.30 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, and the model will be available in three variants: Base, Exclusive, and GS Trophy.

Design and Manufacturing

Designed and developed in Germany, the F 450 GS is manufactured locally at TVS Motor Company's Hosur facility. This strategic partnership ensures competitive pricing and localized production. The motorcycle enters the highly competitive mid-capacity ADV segment, going up against rivals such as the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure, albeit with a more premium positioning that emphasizes quality and advanced features.

Engine and Hardware

Under the hood, the F 450 GS is powered by a new 420 cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that churns out approximately 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, featuring a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter for seamless gear changes. The motorcycle rides on a 43 mm USD front fork and a rear monoshock setup, providing excellent off-road capability. Braking is handled by a 310 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc, supported by dual-channel ABS. It offers four riding modes: Road, Rain, Enduro, and Enduro Pro (exclusive to the GS Trophy variant). The bike runs on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheel combination, fitted with dual-purpose tyres for versatile performance.

Features and Electronics

On the electronics front, the BMW F 450 GS is well-equipped with a 6.5-inch coloured TFT display that supports Bluetooth connectivity and works alongside BMW's multi-controller. The screen displays all key ride data and basic connectivity functions. Lighting is fully LED across the motorcycle, and a USB Type-C charging port is included. The bike also features ABS Pro, which remains functional even when leaned over, Dynamic Traction Control to manage wheel slip under acceleration, and Engine Drag Torque Control to prevent rear wheel instability during aggressive downshifts or sudden throttle roll-offs. Additional features include heated grips and an Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) available on select variants, enhancing low-speed riding and off-road manoeuvres.

With its competitive pricing, robust engine, and advanced features, the BMW F 450 GS is set to make a strong impact in the Indian mid-capacity adventure motorcycle segment.
