NFL Coaches Show Unique Support for Players in 2025 Offseason
NFL Coaches Support Players in 2025 Offseason

Brian Schottenheimer loves to practice the footwork dance with Dak Prescott and other Dallas Cowboys players. Mike Vrabel promises to be out there in full force for all upcoming New England Patriots activities. When Justin Herbert told Jim Harbaugh he would be missing OTAs to support his girlfriend, Madison Beer, the coach offered him a ride to the airport!

Brian Schottenheimer Takes Dak Prescott to Footwork Dance Class

Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer took quarterback Dak Prescott, along with Joe Milton, Will Grier, Steve Shimko, and their families, to a footwork dance class during the 2025 offseason. The activity aimed to build team camaraderie. They tap-danced to Greek music, and at the end, Joe Milton performed a contemporary dance in the center of the circle while others threw glass plates around him. This unusual practice may be a strategy to enhance concentration.

Schottenheimer emphasizes the importance of life outside football. He told The Athletic's Jon Machota, "We try to get 4, 5, or 6 guys together and just talk about life. Football rarely comes up. We do football all day long. What I want to know is what Javonte [Williams] named his dog. And where does this story come from, and all those things." He believes sharing personal stories helps teammates bond, especially during tough moments on the field. "For them to share their stories with their teammates allows them --- when they're out there on the field, they're having a tough day, and it's hot, and they're pushing through a padded practice in Oxnard, they're able --- to truly pull together and work together. I think that's going to help us finish games, finish practices. When you have a tough moment, you have a tough stretch in the season. You work through those problems because they believe in one other, and more importantly, they love each other."

Mike Vrabel Promises Full Force for Team Activities

New England Patriots players are reportedly standing by head coach Mike Vrabel amid the receding Dianna Russini scandal. Vrabel recently promised to be fully present for all team activities. The 50-year-old coach addressed the media on May 27 for the first time after his absence on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft. When asked how he balances private and professional life, he said, "Really good. I appreciate that my family is great. I love Jen [Vrabel], I love the boys, I love my personal friends." Regarding future absences, Vrabel stated, "I can't tell you anything other than I'm going to be out there today in full force. So, I'm going to focus on today and the excitement that we've had and that we've built so far." On handling distractions, he added, "We all have to deal with things outside of here. My focus, and obviously the excitement that I have for coaching, is what is most important right now. This is a great opportunity." This commitment is a positive sign for Patriots players, as their coach's attention is fully on them and the Russini story fades from public discourse.

Jim Harbaugh Encourages Justin Herbert to Spend Time with Madison Beer

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh showed remarkable support for quarterback Justin Herbert when he wanted to miss OTAs to attend his girlfriend Madison Beer's Locket Tour. Harbaugh recalled, "He told me he wasn't gonna be here for those two weeks, and my first reaction was, 'Do you need a ride to the airport?'" He praised Herbert's dedication, saying, "He's just been somebody that---he's just here all the time. There's times I've wanted to shoo him out of the building. He's at every voluntary, every nonvoluntary workout. It's the same guy that broke his hand, and then the next day he was here practicing the next game, stiff-arming guys. So yeah, I was happy." Harbaugh's approach ensures his star quarterback excels both professionally and personally.
