Rajasthan Under-20 Football Championship Launches with Enthusiastic Start in Chittorgarh

The Rajasthan Under-20 State Boys Football Championship for the 2025-26 season officially began on Monday at the Sainik School Ground in Chittorgarh. This state-level tournament, organized by the Chittorgarh District Football Association under the guidance of the Rajasthan Football Association and in accordance with All India Football Federation (AIFF) directives, was inaugurated in a vibrant and spirited atmosphere, marking a significant event in youth sports.

Grand Inauguration Ceremony Sets the Tone

The opening ceremony was a grand affair, filled with the enthusiasm of players and the applause of spectators, creating an electric environment of sportsmanship. Chittorgarh MLA Chandrabhan Singh Aakya graced the event as the chief guest, while Puran Anjana, president of the Chittorgarh District Football Association, presided over the function. The occasion saw the presence of numerous dignitaries, including Rajasthan Football Association secretary Dilip Singh Shekhawat, BJP City president Gaurav Tyagi, general secretary Harshvardhan Rud, former Municipal president of Nimbahera Subhash Chandra Sharda, and many others from the football community, such as India player Tarun Roy and various association officials.

In a traditional Mewari welcome, the organizing committee convener Dharmendra Singh Tanwar, along with Faisal Khan, Shakeel Ahmed Mansoori, Shahid Hussain, Rafiq Khan, and their team, honored the guests by covering them with turbans and uparnas, adding a cultural touch to the proceedings.

Exciting Opening Matches Showcase Competitive Spirit

The championship kicked off with a series of thrilling matches that highlighted the skill and determination of the young athletes. In the opening game, Jaipur delivered a strong performance, defeating Dungarpur with a score of 2–0. Other matches saw Jhunjhunu triumph over Bikaner 2-0, Udaipur dominate Dausa 3-0, Pali beat Sirohi 3-1 in an organized display at Ground No. 2, and Alwar thrash Baran 4-1. Players demonstrated high-level competition through sharp passing, precise strikes, and robust defense, setting a promising tone for the tournament.

Over 400 Players Compete for National Team Selection

Faisal Khan from the organizing committee provided details, noting that more than 400 players from various districts across Rajasthan are participating in this four-day competition, showcasing their talents on the field. This event holds special importance as it serves as a selection ground for the Rajasthan team, which will compete in the National Football Championship scheduled to take place in Chhattisgarh later this month. The referee panel, including Karamveer, Yashvardhan, Bhairu, Arshad, Harish Bhati, Lokesh, Pawan, Mahipal Singh, Kishan, Rizwan Mansoori, and Arshad Khan, played a crucial role in ensuring fair play and smooth operations.

During the opening ceremony, speakers emphasized the role of sports as a foundation for youth development, describing football not merely as a sport but as a symbol of discipline, teamwork, and dedication. They highlighted that such events provide a vital platform for nurturing talent and bringing glory to both the district and the state, reinforcing the values of sportsmanship and community spirit.
